Involvement in Conservation and Tourism
Growing up, Francis would visit the Mabira forest, as well as the Zoo with both his family and on school trips. These outings started his interest in exploring nature. However, it was watching wildlife series on the National Geographic channel that truly inspired him to get involved with conservation.
Francis started working as a tracker in 1999 and became a guide in 2001. He wants to continue to meet different people, promote his country, and share his life experiences in order to instill a clear picture of post Genocide Rwanda.
He desire to use his work to continue to improve his standards and support his family.
His Achievement
"I have assisted and supported my family in their daily life, including helping my brothers and sisters attain higher education. I also give lectures to internship students from Sweden on the environment, tourism, conservation, history, conflicts and how well we solve them."
"In addition, I have contributed greatly to the conservation of gorillas and the park, promoting Rwanda through specialized presentations to tourists and researchers.
His message to the world
"The world should know that Rwanda is an environmentally respectful country, as well as a great destination for those who appreciate the environment and wish to share in our success and achievements as well as our future. Our country is special with terrain, landscape, scenery, wildlife and above all a rich culture."
His Dream
"To have a tour company that can provide an economic security not only for myself but also for the local people, limiting our dependency on natural resources and encouraging responsible tourism development."
